The Carl testbed is a trusted partnership between Karlstad University and research-driven industry leaders Ericsson and Telia, establishing a shared platform for cutting-edge studies in wireless communications, channel measurement, edge compute and satellite integration.
Equipped with an integrated 5G Stand-alone New Radio system extended across flexible indoor and outdoor deployments, and a Gen-2 Starlink link, the testbed provides a state-of-the-art research sandbox. Researchers can analyse live KPIs on a dedicated visualization platform, experiment with dynamic radio configurations, and export datasets to fuel algorithmic design and performance modelling.
